Banyan Hills Technologies Enters IoT Platform Wars with Enterprise Solution for Self-service Kiosk and Vending Machine Operators

September 14, 2016

Owners and operators of self-service kiosks and vending machines finally have an answer to the challenge of fully maximizing the value from their self-service strategies. With the preview launch of CanopyTM, a comprehensive IoT platform from Internet of Things (IoT) experts Banyan Hills Technologies (Banyan), operators can now fully monitor, manage and monetize their fleet with real-time analytics and customized dashboards.

Canopy is a cloud-based IoT platform that allows operators to migrate to a single software platform for one-time, real-time access. It delivers on the promise of the Internet of Things bringing together all essential business services; inventory, transactions, customer, sales, and marketing. It also handles machine vitals including software, hardware, and network availability. Today, Canopy is in a pilot with four kiosk and vending customers with a general released planned for Q1 2017. The significant challenges addressed by Canopy will be the focus of a Banyan-hosted live webinar on September 28, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The event, featuring Banyan founder, CEO and IoT expert Steve Latham, will provide critical information to help operators avoid critical mistakes that can put their self-service strategies at risk and understand how an IoT-enabled strategy can help.

“Now is a great time for self-service kiosk and vending machine operators”, said Latham. “But with more digital capabilities being built into these machines, it’s also getting harder to keep operations running smoothly. Customer trials and years of experience building software to operate large networks of kiosks give us the experience to help operators maximize their IT and IoT investments. An Internet of Things approach can protect a self-service strategy to maintain profitable growth and a great customer experience,” Latham concluded.

Canopy customer Digital Golf Technologies operates a network of tablet-based kiosks and is the first fully automated system for courses offering hole-in-one contests. Since running Canopy, they’ve experienced a significant increase in customer acquisition from 20 percent to 85 percent. Eric Hoersten, CEO Digital Golf Technologies said, “Bringing to market a fully automated, digital hole-in-one solution requires maximum uptime and minimum disruption, so having Canopy to monitor and manage the cameras and kiosks has become incredibly important to our strategy. With Canopy we can see real-time transaction volume, and we have total visibility into our devices so we can ensure golfers have a great day.”
